Findhorn Bay - 4 miles.
Peaceful little village ideal for a great relaxing walk with miles of white sandy beaches and sand dunes to explore, the bay is also popular for various watersports.

Roseisle Beach - 4 miles.
Roseisle Beach stretches for nearly eight miles from Findhorn in the west to Burghead in the east.

Forres has it's own great golf course, Muiryshade, designed by James Braid and Willie Park the course has been host to the Northern Open 2000 and also the Scottish professional championship.

Speyside Malt Whisky Distilleries

The Speyside region in Moray, Scotland is home to the only Scotch Malt Whisky Trail in the World with half of Scotlands Malt Whisky Distilleries based here. Forres is home to two distilleries which are both open to visitors.

Shopping

There are lots of opportunities for buying those souvenirs! Based at Fochabers, Baxters of Speyside are internationally renowned for their soups and jams. Free guided tours at the visitor centre.

Johnstons of Elgin are the famous cashmere specialists and offer tours of their mill. Brodie Countryfare between Nairn and Forres has all sorts of gifts and clothes, plus a delicatessen and restaurant. James Pringle Weavers of Inverness is handy for those woolly sweaters. Moniack Castle Wineries (near Inverness) produces wines, preserves and sauces and don't forget Walkers Shortbread (at Aberlour).
